Flagship of the XtreamNet Marketing Sites XtreamSurf: Launched 7-5-04, the original vision was to make it the base for a network of marketing sites with emphasis on customer service and member support. One of the prime goals was to assemble a collection of marketing tools members could use while seeking out “special offers.” I had also met Ken Belz online a few months earlier and asked him to come onboard to help me with the site. He quickly assumed “Admin” duties and made it his “mission” to keep the surf as clean as possible. He has excelled in this area and we enjoy one of the “smoothest” surfs around mostly due to his and his team’s efforts. I had been marketing online for about a year using a number of resources including traffic sites and saw a lot of potential in them. Sites are as individual as the owners, (more so than safelists anymore) and I decided to “experiment” with some ideas on building a “community” and a “team” at the site. Xtream is the combining of the words “extreme” and “team": hence XtreamSurf. I especially saw the emailings as an opportunity to help build a team, as opposed to “selling at” the members. Some sites I had belonged to never emailed you unless trying to sell you something. While there was some resistance at first to the frequent emails, the large majority of members seemed to latch on to them., began to respond, and soon, we had dialog going on with many members. This led to building relationships which has led to partnerships and many members being involved in the Xtream Team in a number of capacities. We have members involved in Admin, marketing, planning, and other aspects of the Xtream network. Using XtreamSurf as the platform, we launched 3 other free traffic sites, 3 safelists, 1 SAL, a forum, several blogs and now the XtreamNet Marketing and Affiliate Site. Powerpaysurf is up next to launch and we are reworking our acquisition of White Shark FFA. XtreamNet FFA from the Massive FFA network is being developed now. Xtream recently entered into partnership with Debra Challinor, creator of SafeAdLists and the force behind Safelist Warrior Group to expand upon Just4uu.com and will soon be offering “bounce free” commercial mailboxes. Other projects and alliances are currently being planned. Not that things have been all roses and “go team, go!” We have had our share of set backs, hack ins, host/server issues, sites being down, detractors and etc. Each “negative” has been a learning experience and a lot of positive things have happened because of them. Each hack has provided the vehicle to bring members and team members closer together, each set back an opportunity to problem solve and overcome. Events that could have shut other sites down, have - in the long run - served to help us forge the “Xtream Team”. As a team, we are looking to continue to build our marketing and affiliate network and to a long future on the Net. - Cherie Halliday (Cherie holds degrees in “Mass Communications, emphasis on marketing” (imagine that) and “Systems Management.” She comes to the Net after many years of offline business and management experience.) Helpful HintsMarketing Tips For Advertising in EzinesWhen Advertising In An Ezine. Advertising in Ezines can be a very effective way of advertising when done right. Ezines/Newsletters are great places to advertise to a highly targeted market. However if you do not do the necessary research, you can and will waste a ton of time and money. Start off right and examine each ezine/newsletter before you advertise. 1. Subscribe and see what type of audience the publisher is trying to reach, newbie seasoned business person, ect. See what sort of ads are being run, this will give you an idea. 2. Make sure that they are the right market, no need to advertise golfing equipment to a bunch of people interested in Antiques. 3. Check how many ads are run in the actual newsletter. If there are too many you could be dealing with a saturated market. Also check how many Solo Ads are run each week, and what they are. Too many of these can definitely make subscribers less responsive. 4. You can always talk to the publisher, before you advertise and they will sometimes give you some helpful hints or specials. When you have done your due diligence always keep a record on each ezine/newsletter that might be suitable to advertise in. These notes will be useful when you track and test your ads. When you are ready to advertise always run your ad through an email ad analyzer. to check for trigger words and make sure your ad will pass through the Spam filters. Many ads when they get sent out are blocked by filters and go to waste, with a little careful adjusting yours does not have to be one of these. In this way your ad will get maximum exposure. Ezine publishers do not usually have the time to do this. Always track your ads and make a note of which ads have done well and which bombed. This will save you tons of time and money. Again make a note of the ezines that were most responsive to your ad and see which ones you will use for repeat ads. Remember to advertise more than once. In order for your business to grow you must advertise regularly. Your potential customers must not forget you, or they will end up buying from your competitors. With these few points you will make your ezine advertising more effective and profitable. Good management is a must in any advertising campaign to make the maximum impact. A little planning and thought will go a long way. |
